History
Founded in 1954, Santa Catarina, Caldas Da Rainha, Portugal by Joao Ivo Peralta and wife Maria, IVO Cutelarias a small family business with 3 employees, began manufacturing small knives and pocket knives. With the help of his brother Antonio Ivo Peralta, the two travelled by bicycle to neighbouring cities selling the knives. By the 1970s, with the addition of their two children in the business, the vision of the company exceeded the national market and opened doors for international expansion. By the 1990s, IVO’s ongoing success and international growth, brought forth the opening of IVO Cutlery, a division of Ivo Cutelarias; with its office and warehouses based in Toronto, Canada. Owned by Fernando Ivo Peralta, Joao’s nephew, IVO Cutlery expanded the IVO brand into the North American markets. Presently, IVO products are sold to more than 64 countries on 5 continents and in 2014 celebrated 60 years of manufacturing premium quality knives for use around the world.
